xoxox

Dear Family and Friends,
I love you and miss you.
I am going to be a ladybug for Halloween. Yay.
My Mommy and me are best friends.
I can't wait to attack I mean love on baby Brenn.
My Mommy still makes me wear these silly headbands everyday, eventhough my hair gets longer and longer.
I will only go to sleep at night on my Daddy's chest.  And I love to push my Mommy off when she tries to take my spot.
I miss my Daddy when he is gone but we have so much fun when he comes home.
I have seven teeth now, but I won't smile on demand, so my mommy can't show you.
I still wish Harvard was in California, but I guess maybe I will get used to Massachusettes.
Call me or skype me soon,
Love Ellie Callait xoxox

Ellie has been spending a lot of her time like this. We have been busy running errands and getting ready for Halloween.  We have been carving pumpkins and drinking hot apple cider. So perfectly New England.  I have a lot more time at home this rotation and it has been so fun to be able to spend quality time everyday with the munchkin.  She still refuses to look at me and smile. So stubborn I tell you.

The swings are one thing that make the princess smile

Her million dollar smile

And we have been doing a lot more of this.  Ellie is getting much bigger and loving the park more and more.  Yesterday we went to the park near Daddy's school, but we decided to go when he needed to be picked up which was around 8 pm. We got all bundled up and headed out. It was really dark and we were the only people there. Ellie had a blast but it was getting a little too "Are you Afraid of the Dark for Me" so we decided to retire and walk around Harvard instead haha (I'm such a chicken). Well just thought I would share the pics and let you all know we are alive and well.

Ellie's Boo Boo

There we were, in the living room watching Word World, when all of a sudden Ellie gets a burst of energy. There are times we know she is definately related to Carder Lloyd because she can be a crazy lady, and this was one of those times. She was eating her berry yogurt bites, flinging her head back and forth, and jumping up and down, when all of a sudden she slipped. There was a loud boom and a blood curdling scream. I ran to the aid of my little princess. When I picked her up and saw pink chunks in her mouth, I immediately thought they were chunks of oral mucosa haha. Thankfully it was just her yogurt bites.  I had a freak out moment for sure. I was all alone and I didn't know what to do. There was blood everywhere (lacerations of the mouth bleed way too much) on my shirt, running down her face, and all over her onesie.  I am the medical professional, I'm supposed to know what to do. So I gave myself five seconds to freak out and then I cleaned her off in the kitchen, applyed as much pressure as she would allow, and tried to ice the poor boo boo. The ice didn't work too well, so we resorted to an otter pop.  She was in a little pain for a few days but the peanut has recovered quite nicely. Oh and we can put bows in her hair!!!
We love and miss you all!
Look at that poor bottom lip...you should see the other guy.

PS Guess where I am going next?
PEDIATRICS!!!! Yay!!!

The Little Jet Setter

Ellie Callait is a little world traveler these days.  She knows all about security lines, boarding passes, and in flight snacks. I braved our first of many flights to Phoenix and back this weekend and she did great!
Our weekend got off to quite the stressful start. On Thursday morning, Leon set an alarm for me at 4:00 am to get up and get ready for a flight that left a 6:00 am.  Bytheway, this is the same man that when Ellie was an infant got up to change her diaper and exclaimed, "I can't find her head!" Those things don't just fall off babe.  It is safe to say when it is morning he is a sleepy boy and I should have set my own alarm. Lesson learned.  He decided to turn off his alarm before I woke up, so when I looked at my clock, I saw a bright 4:57 screaming at me. Bah! I jumped out of bed and grabbed all I could remember to bring (which thankfully included the baby).  We jammed to the airport and through security making our flight with no time to spare. I mean Ellie didn't get her diaper changed until Memphis but I can't do it all.
Ellie slept for a good portion of the flights to AZ and back. I was shocked at how well she really did. I was so nervous everytime someone sat next to us. I would just smile and say, "I hope you like babies". I did have to buy Ellie Belly some new toys to keep her attention for those miserable six hours. And we had to walk down the asile a few times making sure she said "hi" to every single passenger.
Arizona was so much fun. We got to spend some time with Lisa, G, and Taylor. Ellie loves Taylor. And they both loved Ellie's new toys haha. Taylor can't ever remember Ellie's name and continues to call her "Elliot" lol, so cute.  We ate at Pei Wei's, had some mexican food, Mommy took her test, and Ellie came to Mommy's school and got to listen to a lecture on what not to miss in genitourology.  Now Ellie knows all about the dangers of viagra...joy. It was also so fun to see all my school friends. We loved Brinly and Kyle for letting us stay with them. Ellie flirts with Kyle nonstop. He is SO much fun. I seriously considered not coming back lol. But I missed my lover boy too much.
Just thought I would share some pics of the little jet setter herself. Enjoy.

Fresh Pond

So, it is midnight here on the east coast and for those of you that don't know me well, I don't see midnight often.  In fact, I don't think I've seen midnight since we have lived on the east coast.  But here I am up with a million things to do and no energy or motivation to do a single thing. It was just one of those days you know?
It started with Ellie throwing up all over Daddy.  We jumped in the bath and I noticed a knarley uri going on in baby girl. Deep thick sort of coughs and a very runny nose. Ugh, sick baby is not fun.  So I rx'd a lot of rest and liquids.  Next thing I know we are settling down for a nap and All those liquids came up again all over the bed and the mama.  We had to strip the sheets and throw them in the wash with the rest of the mountain of laundry.
The washing machine was brimming, but lets be honest when you have to pay a dollar fifty, who doesn't try to mash all the clothes in there that they possibly can? I learned my lesson because when I pulled the clothes out of the dryer there was still chunks of Ellie vomit on our sheets. Yay! That means I had to scrub them by hand in our sink.  Not to mention about a half hour later Ells throws up again. Oh the joys of motherhood :)
My poor baby. I wish I could just take the bug from her because I hate seeing her sick. Poor Cinder-ellie only got about 30 min of sleep today and she might have just fallen asleep twenty min ago for the night.  She stayed up and watched the entire Lifetime Amanda Knox movie with me haha.  I sure hope that she feels better tomorrow. Keep her in your prayers.

Oh P.S. here are some pictures of the munchkin on Saturday at Fresh Pond. I tried to get her to look at me and smile and she kept saying "no...no...no" and shaking her little head. Where did she learn to tell me "no"? I think she just likes to tease me because she will give a little smirk after and loves it when she gets a solid rise out of me.
ENJOY

It is definately fall in New England

I can't help but eskimo kiss that precious little nose

"no. no. no."

Really Ellie, I'm in your face and you refuse to look at me? You totally remind me of someone I know way too well.

"I would rather look down at the boring street than at you Mom"

What a little explorer. She gets smarter and more curious about the world everyday.

"Go!"

So yesterday was a beautifully rainy saturday in Cambridge Massachusettes, but boys will be boys and nothing disrupts an intermural flag football game.
Leon has always loved sports.  He eats, sleeps, and breathes them and has ever since he was born.  You would think considering the fact he played baseball his entire life and even into the professional level that it would hold a special place in his heart. Not so much.  Leon love, love, loves him some football. Oh. my. gosh. He has been counting the days to play intermural football again and boy was he excited when he found some guys at Harvard that were down to play.  It has been so sad because all of the intermural games have been on Sunday and so Leo has choosen not to play, but this week they accomidated him and held some games on Saturday.
Now mind you, Leon loved intermural football at BYU, and it was so much fun to watch him play because the field was surrounded by supporters and fans of other players. It was like a social event.  Expecting a scene like that, I was so excited to join in the fun and watch the big daddy play.  Of course, in true Harvard fashion Ellie and I were the ONLY fans. Haha we loved every second though.
Ellie was especially excited because she doesn't get to see Daddy much these days with all the Library hours he has been putting in.  She kept trying to get out to him, and I had to keep telling her "We have to stay on the blankie so that we can cheer for Daddy and he will not throw the ball like Jake Heaps". So, Ellie decided to cheer and she kept lifting her hands and clapping and yelling, "Go!" It was the cutest thing ever. We love and miss you all.
Love, Us
