Nine months ago

My sweet little princess was born.  And I should have taught her how to sleep. I have always hated Babywise and train your baby to sleep books because I feel like they don't allow your baby to eat enough and therefore you are somewhat neglecting their nutritional needs.  I can now see why mothers swear by programs like that.  Like I have said a million times, nothing can prepare one for the adventures of motherhood. I think the most unexpected thing is the emotions that come with the job. Honestly, I want to do everything I can to make the little one a happy girl but sometimes all I can do isn't enough.  As many of you know, Ellie was a bad, sorry I mean, bed sleeper. I know, I know.  She nuzzeled right in between Leon and I every night. Oh how I loved to hold her in my arms all night long. And honestly since she was born I have snuggled her like a little bear. What was I thinking?  I'm a big cuddler myself and so naturally I'm always snuggling up on her and one would think my lips were glued to those little cheeks, but this has grown to be a big problem.  Every time she goes to sleep she wants to be on top of you. Like a beached sea lion laying on a rock in the sun. I mean its cute but when you try to get up and that little arm grabs around your neck like an anaconda it gets a little ridiculous.  So like previously mentioned we made the ultimate decision...we put her in her crib. I just thought I would share with you how it is going:
Day 1: As you all know we slept on the floor in her room and she never woke up.  The fates were trying to make this look easy
Day 2: She cried. I got in the crib. She cried. I mean imagine little girl with both arms pleading for you to pick her up, face in between the railing and an arm out the railings on either side. I gave up and she ended up in her spot right between her loving pushover parents.
Day 3: She cried. I yelled for Leon because i couldn't pull myself from her anaconda grip.  Daddy said night night and closed the door. Tough night. She woke up and then Daddy somehow ended up in her crib (don't ask).
Day 4:  We put her in her crib and decided we are laying the law and getting in her crib is only crutching the process, so we gave her kisses and said night night then shut the door.  She cried and we cried but we couldn't go in. She was basically up the whole night crying and I went in to get her at 6 and she was horizontal in the crib with her feet coming out the railings. sad. Poor thing slept til ten and was exhausted the rest of the day.
Oh to have a baby that will just go to sleep on their own and not have to cry themselves to sleep every night and brake their mamas heart.
It was her nine month birthday last week and I just want to keep you all updated with what she is doing when she isn't crying herself to sleep:
-she has two teeth. ah, yes her second one popped through a few days ago and don't let that little alligator bite you because she will...and it will hurt
-swim, swim, swim she loves to swim and splash in the pool
-she loves doggies
-she still is a bad eater but I can say this for the little munchkin she much prefers people food to baby food
-has a very sensitive gag reflex and we always have to be on the paper alert because it is still her favorite thing to eat
-she is 29 in long and weighs like nothing actually I'll let you know after her doctors appointment on Thursday
-She likes to eat puffs but she would rather just take them all out of your hand or off the table and throw them
-She is cruising around furniture like a pro
-her favorite book is blues clues (I know weird I think she just likes the buttons that go with it)
-She love, love, loves her daddy would rather have leon hold her than anyone else in the world
-Loves little blonde boys around four years old. Is just fascinated by anyone that age with blonde hair. I wonder why?
-Is the most talkative baby I have ever heard. She always has something to say and her voice is so cute and low I have to mimic her. She is so, so funny
-She loves to laugh and tease
-Is the most cuddly little monkey I know. She will just crawl over to me or Leon just to give us a hug or a kiss. I die, just die when she does that
mmmhmmm I love her and hopefully will have pictures soon the camera is awol
love,
 the Johnsons
